The
Royal Orient - 10 Days/ 9 Nights
This atmospheric train has been
modernized in traditional decor. Its
consists of 13 AC Coaches. Each coach has
four cabins sharing two bathrooms with hot
and cold water, a lounge area with TV,
video and music console, plus two
attendants to beckon to your every need.
There are two restaurants offering Western
, Chinese and Indian cuisine. One carriage
is known as the Watering Hole, and yes you
guessed it, its the bar (Note Gujarat is a
dry state but the train is exempt form
prohibition). Most of the travel is by
night, leaving days for full excursions in
luxury Indian standard coaches.
Day 1 Arrive Delhi- Tuesday
Arrive Delhi on International flights.
Overnight in your hotel.
Day 2 Delhi- Wednesday
Your journey begins with your VIP red
carpet welcome, including garlands and
music at Delhi Cantonment station.
Day 3 Chittaur - Thursday
Arrive in Chittaur, once the pride of
the Rajput's, India's most valiant warrior
race, where
you will visit Chittaurgarh Fort, built in
7th century. with its 9 story watch
tower and spread over 700 acres. You will
also visit Udaipur, the city of dawn which
claims to ignite the imagination of poets,
painters, travelers and writers.
Day 4 Junagadh- Friday
Junagadh- The Home to, arguably, India's
greatest emperor Ashoka Muarya. You will
visit the Darbar hall museum including the
picture gallery, palanquin room, costume
and arms gallery. Veraval- you will visit
The Shiva Hindu Temple at Somnath. Legend
has it that this temple was built in gold,
then rebuilt in silver, wood and finally
in stone.
Day 5 Sasan Gir Forest- Saturday
Sasan Gir Forest- home to more than 312
Gir Lions, a Unique species of lion that
is different to its African Cuisine. It is
claimed to be historically indigenous from
a vast area that covered Greece to Bengal.
Other animals you might see are the
Panther, Hyena, many types of deer and if
you are lucky the rare chowsingha (four
horned antelope) to name a few. You will
see numerous types of bird and will also
visit the crocodile farm. Later on travel
to Ahmedpur-Mandavi or visit the nearby
island of Diu with it's 1535 AD fort. This
area was colonised by the Portuguese and
is known as the Goa of the North.
Day 6 Palitana- Sunday
Palitana (Temple City)- Over 863 temples
exist here, built over a period of 900
years. This tour includes a two hour hill
ascent. However you can hire dolis
(palanquins carried by men) to make the
journey less tiresome. Travel to Sarkhej-
a Village that still lives in mediaval
age, with customs and folks art all kept
inact.
Day 7 Ahmedabad- Monday
Ahebabad - The capital of Gujarat, known
to be the adobe of the great Mahatma. You
will visit temples and mosques, plus given
a chance to purchase local crafts. Dont
forgot to haggle.
Day 8 Jaipur- Tuesday
Jaipur (The city that stood still)-
visit the Amber Palace on elephant back
and shila mata Temple, amongst other
sights.
Day 9 Delhi- Wednesday
Back to Delhi and transfer to the Hotel
Day 10 Delhi- Thursday
Transfer to the airport for your flight |
